As a corporation that champions positive change through innovation and social impact, Pilot Pen Singapore is deeply committed to empowering and celebrating the next generation of society’s changemakers.
Established in 2014, the Pilot Pen Community Champion Award embodies this mission by recognising the outstanding contributions and dedication of Singapore Management University (SMU) students in community service. Each year, six exceptional students are awarded S$1,500 each for their unwavering commitment to social causes, making a significant impact on critical areas such as disability, elderly issues, youths-at-risk, low-income/single-parent families, environmental advocacy, and mental health.
In 2023, Lee Hong Xian Nicole, from the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, was awarded the Pilot Pen Community Champion Award in the Persons with Disabilities category for her inspiring leadership and dedication. Nicole has completed 495 hours of community service—more than six times SMU’s graduation requirements—and as a leader of SMU Caretalyst, she spearheaded Project Illuminate and Project Ai, initiatives that have impacted the lives of underprivileged children and persons with intellectual disabilities.
Similarly, in the Youths-At-Risk category, Tan Yi Peng, from the School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS), was recognised for his role in Project HeartCode, a community service project that empowers disadvantaged youth to explore IT and solve real-world problems through technological innovation.
These deserving award recipients exemplify the values that form the cornerstones of Pilot Pen Singapore — passion, excellence and the commitment to drive meaningful change.
